Founder story
How we built ClickInvoice
by Nwokpor Raymond Ikenna, Chairman ClickBase Group
Mid 2025 started with a simple need: send an invoice that felt truly professional, had clean numbering, reliable records, and an always-accessible history for both the client and me.
I was building software for a client and needed an invoice that did more than just look okay. I wanted proper invoice numbering, record keeping, clean delivery, and a way to access the invoice later without hunting through chat threads and PDF attachments.
I checked a few invoicing tools. None of them felt like what I wanted. So I built my own. At first, ClickInvoice was literally an internal tool — a private invoice generator I used for myself to create professional-looking invoices and keep every billing detail organized.
It wasn’t serious at the beginning. It was a side project that I kept touching almost every night. Small UI improvements. Faster invoice generation. Better structure. Better organization. Things that only I probably cared about at the time.
The first real test: launch it for others
Then I asked myself: why not make it multi-tenant and see if other people would use it too? I built the first public version and launched it in September 2025. I posted it on LinkedIn and a few other places, but I didn’t expect much.
The first sign it mattered came faster than I expected. By December 2025, ClickInvoice had crossed 100 users. That was the moment my mindset changed. It was the first time I looked at the product and thought:
“Okay… maybe this is actually useful to people.”
Rebuild the platform the right way
Once the product proved it had real users, I rebuilt almost the entire thing. I rebuilt the architecture, improved performance, added multi-currency support, cleaned the dashboard, and made the product feel much more solid for freelancers, agencies, and small businesses.
The new version launched on January 1st, 2026. It wasn’t just an upgrade — it was the foundation for the invoice software I wished existed from day one.
Today the results speak for themselves
- 704 active users on ClickInvoice
- 710 businesses creating invoices across multiple countries
- Over $40M in invoice volume processed
- One professional invoice that became a global billing platform
What still feels amazing is how this all started: because I just wanted to send one clean, professional invoice to a client. Today, businesses I have never met are using ClickInvoice every day.
That feeling never gets old.

Why this story matters for modern businesses
This is the story of a product built from real billing pain. It is proof that the best invoicing software grows from a founder’s own need for clear records, professional presentation, and reliable payment workflows.
If you need invoicing software that understands what freelancers, agencies, and small businesses actually use every day, ClickInvoice exists because the founder solved that problem first for himself.
